ARZA Canada Shared Space Curriculum
There are two strands of this curriculum. The first strand is the introduction to Israel as a Shared Space and includes six sessions geared toward learners in Grades 4-6.
Big Idea: The State of Israel is the shared space of the Jewish people and simultaneously shares space with multiple other peoples. We are part of the Jewish people, therefore Israel is also our shared space.
The second strand in the Shared Space Israel Curriculum and includes six sessions geared towards learners in Grade 5 and up.
Big Ideas:
-Every map tells a story.
-Maps are a window into how different groups share space.
-Maps are subjective, interpretive documents through which individuals express their perspectives and beliefs in the context of the time and place in which they live.
-The map of Israel can be simultaneously historical, political, religious and geographic.
